Hello and welcome! My name is Karen, but I am widely known as Miss Karebear or Karebelle. I have been teaching, leading, mentoring, facilitating, programming, performing, and choreographing—particularly in lyrical, ballet, musical theatre, and street styles—for over 20 years. I also hold an ALFCA certification and have led group fitness classes in alignment with my passion for expressive arts. As both a participant and spectator, I am fascinated by the beautiful connection between the arts and the mind-body-spirit dynamic.
This passion ultimately led me to pursue a Graduate Diploma in Dance Movement Therapy at Aeoterra, NZ, where I am combining all of these elements as a Movement Therapist. I’ve also had the great pleasure of traveling to teach and perform across continents and oceans, including in Mexico, Ecuador, Zimbabwe, the Philippines, and the USA.
As the director of BodySong, I draw on my extensive experience in the expressive arts to connect artists and clients, mentor emerging leaders, and provide tried-and-true tools and techniques that enhance artist visibility and the ability to share their knowledge and talents.
We support people of all ages/abilities in developing healthy holistic expression tools to help improve quality of life. We do this by connecting individual and group clients with professional performing arts therapists and leaders, who create and lead enjoyable, engaging music and movement experiences.

Through the use of art, dance, voice and percussion, we can explore and discover what is alive within us. Whether we are feeling sad, happy, creative or stuck, anything is possible with these tools and games. Just like in the natural world, where animals are free to move, play and sing, so can we! I have a lifetime of training and experience in music, dance and art, including many years as a part of a professional youth musical theatre company, and time in the University of Calgary Music Education program. I am also the founder of the wellness organization, Rainbow Earth Soul Care. Bringing my years of experience working in mental health, peer support and disability support organizations. Along with a foundation in my traditional indigenous Lakota and Celtic cultural roots. I love being a music fairy, and helping bring that magic to the world! Thank-you for getting to know me, and I hope we get to play soon! =)
